Century Arms L1a1 Serial Numbers

'The deal was made directly with and the brand new rifles were shipped directly from the Small Arms Facility at Lithgow NSW between Sept 1987 and mid 1989 when the Federal ban on 'assault rifles' went into effect. A total of 158 rifles were imported and serial numbers range from SAF83005 (which I.

I've seen Australian L1A1 kits for sale with a 3 position selector switch (S,A, & R). I'm assuming that the 'A' option is full auto. If so, then is this kit legal to build a CA compliant rifle? I have been under the assumption (maybe incorrectly) that once a MG, always a MG, in the eyes of the law. Does the presence of this selector make a build illegal even if one were to build this kit up with a DSA, Entreprise, etc. Semi-auto receiver????? I'd love to have a CA compliant FAL and I love the look of the wooden furniture on the L1A1s over the other variants. Oh, and just in case I'm repeating an old discussion.I promise I've searched the archives.

Keep in mind though, you have to put more then a few US parts into that Fal to make it US legal anyways.

Once you changed out the Lower Parts in that gun to US made trigger group, the full auto becomes Obsolete because the US trigger group does not have a full auto option ^_^. The gun would not fire full auto if you tried to select that option, heck it wouldn't even fire at all lol. Besides, your US made receiver would not have the auto sear to make fire in 'full auto,' thus rendering it useless:-D. After that I would guess you would face the deal of making it Cali legal fal by A. Pinning a 10 round mag and feed it by stripper clips with a pistol grip, or B. Get a monster man grip and have fun shooting that fal and detaching the mag.

Either way, it's fun for a couple of minutes before you realized that you wasted 400 rounds, $300 worth and go home depressed and think about your hard earned cash hahahaha. If anyone wants to correct me or add in, Please do. Good info from you all, but no one has really addressed my main concern. Pilsner urquell ibu. I'm well aware that any CA legal FAL upper that I would buy from DSA or Entreprise would make a semi-auto rifle. I also understand the US parts requirements. My MAIN concern is the 'once a MG, always a MG' philosophy.

It won't shoot FA, but it most definately still has some parts left over from the FA rifle. The FAL clones sold can not ever be considered a MG, because of the fact that it does not have the FA ejector block installed, (thats what makes it a MG), it can not physically have the safety sear installed, no matter what you do with the H/T/S or the selector. FAL type receivers with the FA ejector block installed are available.
